Brooks and Roby Appointed to Benghazi Committee
WASHINGTON – Republican Women's Policy Committee (RWPC) Chairwoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-2) released the following statement after Speaker Boehner's announcement of appointees to the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi:
"The terrorist attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012 took the lives of four brave Americans, including the United States Ambassador Christopher Stevens. I commend Speaker Boehner for appointing two excellent women to serve on this select committee and bring their experience and expertise to this investigation. Congresswomen Susan Brooks and Martha Roby will serve our nation well in this capacity and I congratulate them on their appointments."
This afternoon, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) named the seven Republican members of the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi. RWPC Members Susan Brooks and Martha Roby were appointed to serve on the committee and bring their experience and expertise to this important investigation. The Select Committee also provides for five Democratic members, and those names will be released when provided by the House Minority Leader.
In addition to Brooks and Roby, the Republican members of the Select Committee will include:
• Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Chairman
• Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH)
• Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS)
• Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL)
• Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA)
